Incongruent: A Self Discovery Primer is an illustrated book that instills adolescents with positive and optimistic notions of gender exploration.
Gender incongruence describes a difference in someone’s assigned gender at birth and self-concept of gender identity. The book personifies this feeling as a creature guiding the protagonist.

Research Summary
To understand the factors impacting people’s relationship with gender incongruence, I surveyed and interviewed individuals experiencing it. Additionally, I spoke with two University of Cincinnati health professionals that work with transgender populations to gather their perspectives on patients’ barriers.
Content Selection
Compiling content for my audience, I utilized the book You and Your Gender Identity by Dara Hoffman-Fox, LPC and the web resource The Gender Dysphoria Bible. I gathered their relevant information, adjusted the tone to be consistent with my project goals, and created a pagination structure to inform the order and layout of content.
